ثلاثٌ حكتهن لقرم قيس
طلبتI sought بهاthrough them الأخوةbrotherhood والثناءand praise
طلبت بها الأخوة والثناء
Three poems I wove for the chieftain of Qays,
Three virtues adorned Kareem's tomb
Seeking through them brotherhood and praise.
With them he sought kinship and praise
رجعنthey returned عنfrom جآجئهنtheir breasts صوتa sound
رجعن عن جآجئهن صوت
فعندso with اللَهGod أحتسبI seek الجزاءthe reward
فعند اللَه أحتسب الجزاء
They returned with a sound from their breasts;
Their echo returned without sound
So I look to God for my reward.
With God lies the reward I await
