وماand not بيmy motive أنthat يكونواthey should be أهلpeople of عدلjustice
وما بي أن يكونوا أهل عدل
ولكنيbut I رأيتI saw الأمرthe state of affairs ضاعاfell into ruin
ولكني رأيت الأمر ضاعا
Nor is my love because they are people of justice,
Not because they are men of justice,
but I have seen the affair come to ruin.
But because I saw affairs fall into ruin.
