وسوسنand a lily راقٍpleasing مرآهits appearance ومخبرهand its inner nature
وسوسن راقٍ مرآه ومخبره
وجلand is majestic فيin أعينthe eyes النظارof onlookers منظرهits appearance
وجل في أعين النظار منظره
And an iris, pleasing in outward appearance and inner nature;
And a lily, pleasing in its appearance and its inner nature,
A graceful lily, a mirror and informant,
its aspect fills the beholders’ eyes with awe.
And its sight is majestic in the eyes of onlookers.
Magnificent in the eyes of onlookers,
كأنهas though it were أكؤسgoblets البلورof crystal قدalready صنعتwere fashioned
كأنه أكؤس البلور قد صنعت
مسدساتٍsix-sided تعالىexalted is اللَهGod مظهرهwho brings it forth
مسدساتٍ تعالى اللَه مظهره
It is as though crystal goblets had been fashioned
As though it were crystal goblets that had been fashioned
As if crystal goblets were crafted
six-sided—exalted is God who brought it forth!
Six-sided—exalted be God, who brings it forth.
Into pistols, glory be to God in its appearance,
وبينهماand between the two ألسنtongues قدhave طرفتbeen tipped ذهباًwith gold
وبينهما ألسن قد طرفت ذهباً
منfrom بينهاamong them قائمٌan upright one بالملكwith kingship تؤثرهthey favor it
من بينها قائمٌ بالملك تؤثره
Between the two are tongues tipped with gold;
And between the two are tongues tipped with gold;
Between them tongues tipped with gold,
among them one stands whom you would choose for kingship.
Among them stands one they favor with kingship.
Among them stands the sovereign in his splendor,
كأنهas though it were خلاقa fashioner ميمٍof a mīm فيin تعقفهits hooked curve
كأنه خلاق ميمٍ في تعقفه
مدادهits ink ذوبmolten عقيانٍpure gold يصفرهturns it yellow
مداده ذوب عقيانٍ يصفره
It is like a master shaping a mīm in its curling stroke,
In its hooked curve, it is like a fashioner of a mīm;
As if a creator of an M, in its twisting,
its ink molten pure gold, staining it yellow.
Its ink is molten pure gold that turns it yellow.
Its ink melting ambergris that yellows it.
