ياO طالبَseeker of الرزقlivelihood بالتقويمthrough the almanac تصنعهyou fashion it
يا طالبَ الرزق بالتقويم تصنعه
جداًearnestly ولاand not ذاتpossessing تقسيمdivision وتوجيهand direction
جداً ولا ذات تقسيم وتوجيه
O seeker of livelihood through the almanac you fashion,
O seeker of livelihood through astrology you fabricate
earnestly—and not one with division and direction [wording unclear].
Earnestly without any logic or guidance
وتدَّعيand you claim سَفَهاًfoolishly أنthat النجومthe stars لهاthey have
وتدَّعي سَفَهاً أن النجوم لها
فعلan effect بتأثيرهاthrough their influence فيin الخَلقcreation تقضيهthey bring it about
فعل بتأثيرها في الخَلق تقضيه
And you foolishly claim that the stars have
And foolishly claim that the stars have
an effect they bring about in creation through their influence.
An effect in influencing creation through their decree
خفضease up عليكon yourself فماfor there is nothing عندin the possession of المنجَّمthe astrologer فيin
خفض عليك فما عند المنجَّم في
تقويمهhis almanac غيرother than تحييلtrickery وتمويهand deception
تقويمه غير تحييل وتمويه
Ease up, for the astrologer has, in
Lower your gaze for the astrologer has nothing in
his almanac, nothing but trickery and deception.
His astrology but deception and pretense
لولاwere it not for حسابٌcalculation وتأريخٌand date reckoning وصنعةand craftsmanship ماsome
لولا حسابٌ وتأريخٌ وصنعة ما
فيهin it لكانthen would be هذاthis كلّall ماthat which فيهis in it
فيه لكان هذا كلّ ما فيه
Were it not for calculation, date reckoning, and some craftsmanship
If there were no calculations or chronology or skill
within it, this would be all it contained.
