فعذريthen my plea إِلىto مولايmy lord بالصدقthrough truthfulness واسعample
When a man’s excuse falls short beside his fault,
If a man's excuse is meager beside his sin,
My truthful plea before my master remains ample.
my plea to my lord is ample through truthfulness.

وعنديand in my view أنيthat I am ساكنcalm العزمresolve وداعtranquil
I conducted my affair as his command directed,
I managed my affairs as his command directed,
Thinking myself settled in resolve and serene.
and thought myself calm in resolve and at ease.

So I sold what I had previously been buying,
So I sold what [unclear token] I used to buy before,
And let it go cheaply once I became the seller.
and let it go cheaply, with little regard, when I was the seller.

Never did I think that, after the situation was settled,
And I never imagined that the state of affairs, once established,
A severing matter born of displeasure would suddenly overtake it.
would be startled by an event severing it from the outpouring.

Yet if the servant calls himself strictly to account,
Yet, if the servant calls himself to account,
Nothing can benefit him except forgiveness.
nothing but pardon can benefit him—

Forgive, O master: your pardon of your servants
the pardon of a lord whose forgiveness for his servants
Intercedes with your generosity before intercession itself.
intercedes with his generosity before any intercession.

It is enough for me that I am far from your presence,
It is enough for me that I am far from your presence,
And that I lie far from what I desire.
and that I find myself far from my desire.

If, on close inquiry, the fault is mine, you will forgive me—
If I was truly at fault, you forgave me;
What more can you do to me beyond punishment?
so what will you do to me beyond punishment?

May the Lord of all creatures grant you all their lifetimes,
May their Lord grant you the lifespans of all creatures,
And may fate’s decrees never cease to shield you.
and may the decrees of fate never cease defending you.
فكلfor all ديارdwellings لسنthey are not منكby you أواهلاًinhabited
وإنand even if أهلتbecame inhabited منby ساكنيهاtheir residents بلاقعdesolate wastes
For every dwelling you do not inhabit is unpeopled;
For all dwellings not inhabited by you,
Though filled with its inhabitants, it is a wasteland.
though peopled by their residents, are desolate wastes.
