وكنا خمس عشرة في التئامٍ
علىin رغمspite of الحسودthe envious one بغيرwithout آفهharm
على رغم الحسود بغير آفه
And we were ‘fifteen,’ joined together,
We were fifteen gathered in harmony
Despite the envious one, without harm.
Despite the envious without blemish
فقدfor indeed أصبحتI have become تنويناًnunation (an -n ending) وأضحىand has become
فقد أصبحت تنويناً وأضحى
حبيبيmy beloved لاnot تفارقهparts from him الإضافهgenitive attachment (iḍāfa)
حبيبي لا تفارقه الإضافه
For I have become nunation, and now
For I have become an inflection and my beloved
My beloved is never parted from genitive attachment.
