لئنْeven if كانَis يهدينيguides me الغُلامُthe boy لوجهتيto my destination
لئنْ كانَ يهديني الغُلامُ لوجهتي
ويقتادُand leads فيin السيرtravel إذْwhile أناI راكبُriding
ويقتادُ في السير إذْ أنا راكبُ
Though the boy may guide me toward my destination,
Though the boy guides me to my destination
If the boy guides me on my road,
and lead me on the journey while I am mounted,
and leads me on the journey while I ride,
And leads my mount when I ride,
لقدsurely يَستضيءُdraw light القومُthe people بيfrom me فيin أمورهمtheir affairs
لقد يَستضيءُ القومُ بي في أمورهم
ويخبوand fades ضياءُlight العينthe eye والرأيُand judgment ثاقبُkeen
ويخبو ضياءُ العين والرأيُ ثاقبُ
the people surely look to me for light in their affairs:
the people surely draw light from me in their affairs;
The people in their affairs are lit by me,
the eye’s light may dim, yet judgment remains keen.
and the eye's light fades, yet judgment is keen.
Yet the light of my eyes and my piercing judgement hide.
