ياO ابنson of سعدانَSa‘dan أجلحacted brazenly الرزقfortune فيin أمyour case (first part)
يا ابن سعدانَ أجلح الرزق في أم
ركَyour case (remaining part) واستحسنand deemed beautiful القبيحthe ugly بمَرَّهas it passed
ركَ واستحسن القبيح بمَرَّه
O son of Sa‘dan, fortune has acted brazenly in your
O son of Sa'dan, hasten to acquire sustenance in Umm
case, and found ugliness beautiful as it passed.
Al-Ruk and deem the ugly beautiful through its freshness
نلتَyou gained ماwhat لمnot تكنyou were تمنّىwish for إذاif ماemphatic particle
نلتَ ما لم تكن تمنّى إذا ما
أسرفتyou went to excess غايةthe utmost extent of الأمانيّwishes عُشْرَهa tenth of it
أسرفت غاية الأمانيّ عُشْرَه
You have gained what you would not have hoped for—even if
You have attained what you never wished for even if
you indulged your wishes to the utmost—not even a tenth of it.
You stretched the utmost of wishes to a tenth of it
ليسit is not فيماin what أظنّI think إلاّexcept لكيلاso that not
ليس فيما أظنّ إلاّ لكيلا
ينكرdeny المنكرونthe deniers للهto God قدرهHis power
ينكر المنكرون لله قدره
This is, I think, only so that
I believe it is only so that those who deny
the deniers may not deny God His power.
God's decree do not reject it
