وهدمتُand I demolished ماwhat شادتهthey built it ليfor me أسلافيmy forebears
I shall have belied the best opinion held by the one in whom I place my hopes,
I denied the best of what my hopeful one thinks
and torn down what my forebears built for me,
And I destroyed what my ancestors built for me
وعدمتُand I lost عادانيmy habits (probably عاداتي) التيwhich عُوّدُتهاI was accustomed to them
قِدماًof old منof الإتلافlavish spending والأخلافand replenishment (probably والإخلاف)
and lost my habits, to which I had been accustomed
And I eliminated those who used to be my enemies
of old: lavish spending and replenishing wealth;
With steps of destruction and discord
وغضضتand I lowered منfrom ناريmy fire ليخفىso it would be hidden ضوءُهاits light
وقريتُand I fed عذراًan excuse كاذباًfalse أضيافيmy guests
and dimmed my fire to hide its light,
And I extinguished my fire so that its light would be hidden
and fed my guests a lying excuse.
And I made up false excuses for my guests

I shall have greeted my companions in the morning with my honor exposed,
I became indifferent to my friends
at others' mercy, and my wealth intact,
Controlling it, money, and healing

if I do not cast a robe upon Ali
If I do not unleash on Ali a raid
that becomes a mote in the eyes of the nobles.
That becomes a speck in the eyes of the nobles
