مولايmy lord كمhow many منof جَلَّةٍa grave difficulty سَدَدتَهاyou remedied it
مولاي كم من جَلَّةٍ سَدَدتَها
أَحسنتَyou did good فيهاin it والزمانُwhile time قدalready أَسَاdid ill
أَحسنتَ فيها والزمانُ قد أَسَا
My lord, how many a grave difficulty you have remedied!
My Master, how many distresses have you removed,
You did good therein, while time had done ill.
In which you acted well, while time was unkind.
وغيرُand not بدعٍa novelty منكfrom you ياO موسىMusa إذاwhen
وغيرُ بدعٍ منك يا موسى إذا
ضَرَبتَyou struck فيin البحرِthe sea طَريقاًa path يَبَساdry
ضَرَبتَ في البحرِ طَريقاً يَبَسا
Nor is it strange for you, O Musa, when
And apart from miracles, O Moses, when
You strike a dry path through the sea.
You struck a path amidst the sea all dry.
