أكّلفُI burden نفسيmyself كلَّevery يومday وليلةand night
أكّلفُ نفسي كلَّ يوم وليلة
شروراًhardships علىfor منone who لاnot أفوزُI benefit بخيرهfrom his goodness
شروراً على من لا أفوزُ بخيره
I burden myself every day and night
Each day and night I afflict myself
with hardships for one from whom I gain no good,
With evils against those I fail to be kind to
كماjust as سوَّدَblackened القَصَّارُthe cloth-bleacher بالشمسin the sun وجههhis face
كما سوَّدَ القَصَّارُ بالشمس وجهه
ليجهَدto toil فيin تَبييضِwhitening أثوابِclothes غيرِهِsomeone other than himself
ليجهَد في تَبييضِ أثوابِ غيرِهِ
just as the cloth-bleacher blackened his face in the sun
As the fuller blackened his face with the sun
to toil at whitening another person's clothes.
To bleach the clothes of others
