ولوand if أنthat مثليmy like بالحديدin iron لذابit would melt
ولو أن مثلي بالحديد لذاب
And if what afflicts me were in the pebbles, it would shatter the pebbles.
Were my patience pebbles, it would shatter the pebbles,
And if my like were in iron, it would melt.
Were my forbearance iron, it would melt,
ولوand if أنthat ماwhat بيin me بالجبالin the mountains لهدتthey would be brought down

ولوand if أنthat ماwhat بيin me بالغرابin the raven لشابit would turn gray
ولو أن ما بي بالغراب لشاب
And if what afflicts me were in the mountains, they would be brought down.
Were my agony mountains, they would crumble,
And if what afflicts me were in the raven, it would turn gray.
Were my torment a raven, it would turn grey,
ولوand if أنthat ماwhat بالبخارin steam لفجرتit would burst forth
ولو أن ما بالبخار لفجرت
ولوand if أنthat ماwhat بيin me بالهلالin the crescent moon لغابit would vanish
ولو أن ما بي بالهلال لغاب
And if what [afflicts me] were in steam, it would burst forth.
Were my grief steam, it would erupt,
And if what afflicts me were in the crescent moon, it would vanish.
Were my suffering a crescent moon, it would wane,

And if what afflicts me were in the beloved, he would visit me.
Were my beloved with me, he would visit me,
And if what afflicts me were in the watcher, he would repent.
Were my watcher near me, he would relent.
