When an image is imprinted in your sight, reflected are
When your vision is imprinted in my mirror
Rays of what is imprinted at the celestial sphere’s turning.
Rays reflected by the orbit's reversal
تراكyou see yourself إذاwhen ماemphatic particle كنتهyou are it أنتyou لاnot هوit

You see yourself when you are it—you, not it.
You see yourself not him should you doubt
And even if it is imprinted—if you are in doubt,
And though imprinted still unsure

Then we are more entitled to it than Abraham, who
We know him better than Abraham
Recited the Furqan of the Furqan in the King’s presence.
Who recited the Criterion in the King's presence

And the All-Merciful taught us a Qur’an of Furqan.
The Merciful taught us the Criterion Quran
So we became the prime matter of union along the path of dominion.
We were matter's essence in the King's aisle

ولولاهاand were it not for them ماnot غنتsang مثانيoft-repeated verses علىupon أيكgroves
For numbers arose only through one,
Numbers exist only through the One
And but for them, no oft-repeated verses would have sung upon groves.
Without whom octaves wouldn't sound their chords

I divided prayer between myself and him, taking up
Taking my duties, He keeps our affairs apart
My affairs and pouring abundantly upon him the celestial sphere’s radiance.
Overflowing on him ages course

بنفسهof himself عرفاناknowledge نتائجresults ليfor me عنكfrom you
Thus each has from his Lord as much as he has
Each has from his Lord what is due
Of knowledge of himself—results for me from you.
By his essence, my fruits are known to you

So, but for the self’s existence, unknown would be the Lord,
Without the soul the Great Lord is not known
The Great; nor would the realities of the possessor of dominion be manifest.
Nor the truths of the Possesor of Majesty shown

Thus the bearer of Furqan and the bearer of Qur’an
The Criterion's companion, the Quran's friend
Of my attributes and my essence has been freed from doubt.
Are my attributes and essence doubt's end
