You broke your promise, O Ali; and everyone who
You broke your promise, O Ali, and anyone
serves noble ideals never breaks his word.
Who served the exalted never breaks an appointment

And when a noble man says, “Indeed, I shall return,”
And when the generous says: I shall return
he spurns breaking his pledge and returns.
He returns, unlike violating the guarantee and habit

But for disobedience, our God would not have destroyed—
If not for the conflict, our God would not have destroyed
the Lord of all creation, acting justly—Thamud and ʿAd.
The Lord of the worlds, justly, Thamud and Aad
