قد غضَّ من أمَلي أنِّي أرى عَمَلي

قد غضَّ من أمَلي أنِّي أرى عَمَلي

أقوى مِن المُشتَري في أوَّلِ الحَمَلِ

أقوى مِن المُشتَري في أوَّلِ الحَمَلِ

What has diminished my hope is that I see my work

My hope is dimmed for I behold my toil

stronger than Jupiter at the beginning of Aries,

Outweigh the buyer at the transient fair,

وأنَّني راحِلٌ عّما أحاوِلُهُ

وأنَّني راحِلٌ عّما أحاوِلُهُ

كأنَّني أستدِرُّ الحَظَّ مِنْ زُحَلِ

كأنَّني أستدِرُّ الحَظَّ مِنْ زُحَلِ

and that I am departing from what I strive for,

And that I seek what I can ne'er attain

as though I were drawing good fortune from Saturn.

As though I turned the fateful stars from their care.
