حرَّضوني على وزارةِ بُسْتٍ

حرَّضوني على وزارةِ بُسْتٍ

ورأوها من أرفَعِ الدَّرَجاتِ

ورأوها من أرفَعِ الدَّرَجاتِ

They urged me to take the vizierate of Bust,

They urged me to take up a minister's post

and deemed it among the loftiest ranks.

And saw it as one of the highest ranks

قلتُ لا اشتهي وزارةَ بُسْتٍ

قلتُ لا اشتهي وزارةَ بُسْتٍ

إنَّني لم أمَلُّ بعدُ حَيَاتي

إنَّني لم أمَلُّ بعدُ حَيَاتي

I said, “I do not desire the vizierate of Bust;

I said, no I do not covet a minister's post

indeed, I have not yet grown weary of my life.”

For I have not yet wearied of my life
