مطالبُ العالم أشتاتُ

مطالبُ العالم أشتاتُ

وكُلُّهم معناهُمُ هاتوا

وكُلُّهم معناهُمُ هاتوا

The world's desires are diverse;

Roaming are the world's demands

And all of them mean: 'Give!'

All crying "give me more!"

وإنّما العِلمُ وما دونَهُ

وإنّما العِلمُ وما دونَهُ

من الصناعاتِ حبالاتُ

من الصناعاتِ حبالاتُ

And knowledge and whatever ranks beneath it

Yet knowledge and all crafts beside

Among the crafts are nothing but snares.

Are but a rope, nothing more
