She unveiled a face like silk,
She showed her face, why so?
clothed in silk in love.
In passion she was dressed, why so?

Then she said, “Which is more
Then she asked, which lover

You—why have you wasted away a lovesick man
Why so unkind to a youth
who sought refuge in you rather than all others?
Who loves none but you, why so?

Then she swayed and said,
She smiled and then softly said
“Things have indeed gone this way.”
Things are as they are, and so.
