خُذوا بدَمي هذا الغُلامَ فإنَّهُ

Seize this youth in vengeance for my blood, for he

Take this boy for my blood price, for he

shot me with the twin arrows of his eyes on purpose.

Shot me through my eyelids intentionally,

ولا تَقتُلوهُ إنَّني أنا عَبدُهُ

ولا تَقتُلوهُ إنَّني أنا عَبدُهُ

ولم أرَ حُرَّاً يُقتَلُ بالعَبْدِ

ولم أرَ حُرَّاً يُقتَلُ بالعَبْدِ

But do not kill him: indeed, I am his slave,

And do not kill him, for I am his slave,

and I have never seen a free man killed for a slave.

Never have I seen a freeman killed for a slave.
