    Rise, bring her, a virgin—

the goblets are dyed by her rosy hue.

The Magi’s treasure; thus the abode of their

solitude is forever frequented because of her.

Like fire in her blazing glow,

yet she is mildly brackish water.

    A virgin, whose smile makes

the scowling darkness of night laugh.

    And leave those who said

that her goblets’ good fortunes are ill fortunes.

Were she not the companion of

souls, souls would not have loved her.

And so she is dowered with

minds, for she is an excellent bride.
