يا راغِباً في الحَمدِ والشُّكْرِ

يا راغِباً في الحَمدِ والشُّكْرِ

ومُتيمَّاً بعَقيلَةِ الذِّكْرِ

ومُتيمَّاً بعَقيلَةِ الذِّكْرِ

O you who long for praise and gratitude,

O you who desire praise and gratitude

And are enamored of renown’s noble lady,

And are preoccupied with the remembrance of the Mindful One

قَيِّدْ بِبِرِّكَ شُكرَ ذي أمَلِ

قَيِّدْ بِبِرِّكَ شُكرَ ذي أمَلِ

فالبِرُّ قيدُ أوابِدِ الشُّكْرِ

فالبِرُّ قيدُ أوابِدِ الشُّكْرِ

Bind with your kindness the gratitude of one who hopes,

Tie your gratitude to the righteous with your righteousness

For kindness is a tether for gratitude’s wild creatures.

For righteousness is the tie of eternal gratitude
