ياO ناظِرَpupil العَينِof the eye قُلْtell هَلْwhether ناظِرٌىعَيْنيmy eye looking (wording corrupted)
إليكَtoward you يَوْماًone day وهَلْand whether تدنُوdraw near خُطىfootsteps البَيْنof separation
O pupil of the eye, tell me: will my eye look
O watcher of the eye, say, does an eye of mine
Toward you one day, and will separation’s footsteps draw near?
Gaze upon you one day? And do the steps of separation draw near?
اللهُGod يعلَمُknows أنِّيthat I بعدَafter فُرقَتِهِمْparting from them
كطائرٍlike a bird سَلَبُوهُthey robbed it منof جَناحَيْنِtwo wings
God knows that, after parting from them, I am
God knows that after their separation
Like a bird they have robbed of its two wings.
I am like a bird robbed of two wings
لوِif استَطَعْتُI could ركِبْتُI would ride الرِّيحِthe wind نحوَهُمُtoward them
لأنَّbecause بُعْدِيَmy distance عَنهُمْfrom them قدindeed جنىhas brought about حَْينيmy doom
If I could, I would ride the wind toward them,
If I were able, I would ride the wind towards them
For my distance from them has brought about my doom.
For my distance from them has ruined my serenity
