O moon that has settled in the heart,

My blood is inviolable—how, then, has it become lawful?

O fairest of people in his coy grace,

Show me how to remedy my love for you.

Love was unjust when it appointed

A governor from passion, then turned away.

His qualities grew subtle when he grew exalted—

He who, if he wished, could dispel sorrows.

Against me he drew the sword of rejection,

And because of him, the heart ceased longing for union.
