قَلبي مُقيمٌ بِنَيْسابورَ عِندَ أخٍ
ماno مِثلُهُhis equal حيِنَwhen تُستقرىare searched البِلادُthe lands أخُbrother
ما مِثلُهُ حيِنَ تُستقرى البِلادُ أخُ
My heart dwells in Nishapur with a brother,
My heart dwells in Nishapur with a brother
No brother is his equal when the lands are searched.
Unmatched when lands are probed for one so true.
لهُhe has صحائفُpages أخلاقٍvirtues مُهذَّبةٍrefined
لهُ صحائفُ أخلاقٍ مُهذَّبةٍ
مِنهاfrom them العُلاeminence والنُّهىand reason والمَجدُand glory يُنتَسَخُis transcribed
مِنها العُلا والنُّهى والمَجدُ يُنتَسَخُ
His are pages of refined virtues,
His scrolls are filled with polished morals framed,
From them, eminence, reason, and glory are transcribed.
From which glory, restraint, and merit grew.
