وفيand in هِمَّتيmy ambition عِشقُpassionate love السَّماحِgenerosity وليسَand there is not ليfor me
وفي هِمَّتي عِشقُ السَّماحِ وليسَ لي
ثَراءٌwealth علىtoward معنىthe ideal of السَّماحِgenerosity يُساعِدُhelps
ثَراءٌ على معنى السَّماحِ يُساعِدُ
In my ambition dwells a love of generosity, yet I have no
My spirit is inclined towards merciful love, though
wealth to help me realize the ideal of generosity.
I have no wealth to aid my merciful intent,
وفيand in الكَفِّthe hand قَبضٌa grasp للأُمورِon affairs وبَسْطَةٌand an outstretching
وفي الكَفِّ قَبضٌ للأُمورِ وبَسْطَةٌ
ولكِنْbut إذاif ما(emphatic particle) ساعَدَaided الكَفِّthe hand ساعِدُa forearm
ولكِنْ إذا ما ساعَدَ الكَفِّ ساعِدُ
The hand can grasp affairs and open wide,
My hand can grasp and loosen its hold on things, but
but only if a forearm lends the hand support.
When my hand is aided, it becomes benevolent.
