I surveyed the days of time through reflection,

Whose torches outshine all other torches.

So I found them between a bright-faced, radiant day,

Whose front teeth smile, and a dust-gray, frowning one.

And I pondered the traits most fitting for a young man,

In a life that is soft for him, and another that is dry.

So I saw no planter's garden like gratitude,

Nor a wearer's armor like noble patience.
