أرىI see بَصَريmy sight يَعْياgrows weary ويبطُؤُand slows فِعلُهُits functioning
أرى بَصَري يَعْيا ويبطُؤُ فِعلُهُ
إذاwhen لمnot يُنَفِّذْهُmakes it effective شُعاعٌa ray سَماوِيُّheavenly
إذا لم يُنَفِّذْهُ شُعاعٌ سَماوِيُّ
I see my sight grow weary and its functioning slow,
My sight grows weary and weak in its action
when no heavenly ray makes it effective.
Unless it is spurred by a beam from the skies
كَذَلِكَlikewise عَقليmy intellect ليسَis not يُمكِنُpossible فِعلُهُits functioning
كَذَلِكَ عَقلي ليسَ يُمكِنُ فِعلُهُ
إذاwhen لمnot يفِضْpours forth نورٌlight عَلَيهِupon it إلهِيُّdivine
إذا لم يفِضْ نورٌ عَلَيهِ إلهِيُّ
Likewise, my intellect cannot function
So too my mind cannot accomplish its role
unless divine light pours upon it.
Unless illuminated by Godly light from on high
فياso, O مَنْyou who يُرَوِّيquenches the thirst of الحائِمينَthose circling for water بجُودِهِthrough his bounty
فيا مَنْ يُرَوِّي الحائِمينَ بجُودِهِ
أغِثْناcome to our aid وأدْرِكْناand rescue us فماfor there is no عِندَناwith us رِيُّrelief from thirst
أغِثْنا وأدْرِكْنا فما عِندَنا رِيُّ
So, O you who by your bounty quench the thirst of those circling for water,
O You who quenches the thirsty with Your bounty
Come to our aid and rescue us, for we have no relief from thirst.
Help and protect us, for we have no stream but Yours
