قدindeed تمنَّيْتُI wished أنto أراكَI see you فلّماso, when
قد تمنَّيْتُ أن أراكَ فلّما
أنْthat رأيْتُI saw الأراكَthe arak tree قلْتُI said أراكاI see you
أنْ رأيْتُ الأراكَ قلْتُ أراكا
I had wished to see you; so when
I wished that I would see you, but when
I saw the arak tree, I said, “I see you.”
I saw you, I said I saw you
وتخوَّفْتُand I feared أنَّهُthat it لسِواكَfor someone other than you
وتخوَّفْتُ أنَّهُ لسِواكَ
أنthat يكونَmight be الّذيthat which أراهI see it أراكاan arak tree
أن يكونَ الّذي أراه أراكا
And I feared that it was for someone other than you,
And I feared that it was no one but you
that what I see might be an arak tree.
That the one I saw was you
