تقِ الله والزَمْ هُدى دينِهِ

تقِ الله والزَمْ هُدى دينِهِ

ومِن بَعدِ ذا فالزَمِ الفَلسَفهْ

ومِن بَعدِ ذا فالزَمِ الفَلسَفهْ

Fear God and hold fast to the guidance of His religion.

Obey God and adhere to the guidance of His religion

And after this, hold fast to philosophy.

And after that adhere to philosophy

ودَعْ عنكَ قَوماً يَعيبونَها

ودَعْ عنكَ قَوماً يَعيبونَها

ففلسفَةُ المَرءِ فَلُّ السَّفَهْ

ففلسفَةُ المَرءِ فَلُّ السَّفَهْ

And leave aside people who disparage it;

And leave those who find fault with it

For a person's philosophy blunts folly.

For a man's philosophy is better than foolishness

ولا تَغتَرِر بأُناسٍ رضُوا

ولا تَغتَرِر بأُناسٍ رضُوا

مِنَ الدِّينِ بالزور والسَّفسَفَةْ

مِنَ الدِّينِ بالزور والسَّفسَفَةْ

And do not be deceived by people who are content

And be not deceived by the people who are content

With falsehood and triviality in religion.

With a religion of falsehood and frivolity
