أينَwhere قَلبيmy heart سَباهُhe captured it منfrom بَدرِa full moon تِمٍّat its fullness
أينَ قَلبي سَباهُ من بَدرِ تِمٍّ
تَمَّbecame perfect بالثَّغرِthrough the mouth أمْor لَحيْنيfor my doom وحَتْفيand my death
تَمَّ بالثَّغرِ أمْ لَحيْني وحَتْفي
Where is my heart? A full moon has taken it captive,
Perfected by its mouth—or for my doom and death?
صدَrepelled قلبيmy heart وزادَand increased وَجديmy longing وذادَand drove away
صدَ قلبي وزادَ وَجدي وذادَ
الرُّوحَthe soul عنfrom مُهجَتيmy heart’s core وسَهَّدَand caused sleeplessness
الرُّوحَ عن مُهجَتي وسَهَّدَ
He repelled my heart, increased my longing, and drove
The soul from my heart’s core, and left me sleepless.
