بعدَafter ماthat (introducing a clause) كانَhe had للوصالِfor union تَصَدَّىcome forward
بعدَ ما كانَ للوصالِ تَصَدَّى
O gazelle, I see you as a rival and a foe,
after you once came forward to seek union.
بينناbetween us للرَّقيبِthe watcher's سَدُّa barrier فلاso do not تَجcombine (verb begins here)
بيننا للرَّقيبِ سَدُّ فلا تَج
مَعْcompletes تَجْمَعْ: combine علىagainst ذيone possessed of الهوىlove مَعَalong with السَّدِّthe barrier صَدّاrejection
مَعْ على ذي الهوى مَعَ السَّدِّ صَدّا
Between us stands the watcher's barrier; so do not combine
rejection with that barrier against one who loves.
