Baghdad was unjust when she grew inhospitable

to her guest, though she is a welcoming abode.

لم يرْعَ لي حقَّ القَرابَةِ بُحْتُرٌ

لم يرْعَ لي حقَّ القَرابَةِ بُحْتُرٌ

فيها و لا حَقَّ المُروءَةِ فارِسُ

فيها و لا حَقَّ المُروءَةِ فارِسُ

Buhtur did not uphold the duty of kinship toward me

there, nor did Faris uphold the duty of chivalry.
