ومُهَفهَفٍand a slender youth غَنجِcoquettish in الشَّمائلِmanner أزعجَتْunsettled
ومُهَفهَفٍ غَنجِ الشَّمائلِ أزعجَتْ
صبريmy patience بدائعُthe marvels حُسنِهِof his beauty إزعاجاutterly
صبري بدائعُ حُسنِهِ إزعاجا
And a slender youth, coquettish in manner, has shaken
my patience utterly with the marvels of his beauty.
دَرَتِknew الطَّبيعَةُNature أنَّthat فاحِمَjet-black شعرِهhis hair
دَرَتِ الطَّبيعَةُ أنَّ فاحِمَ شعرِه
لَيْلٌnight فأذكَتْso she kindled وجنَتَيْهِhis two cheeks سِراجاas a lamp
لَيْلٌ فأذكَتْ وجنَتَيْهِ سِراجا
Nature knew that his jet-black hair
was night, so she kindled his cheeks as a lamp.
