قلْSay للأميرto the emir أدامَmay perpetuate رَبِّيmy Lord عِزَّهُhis glory
وأنالَهُand grant him منfrom فَضْلِهHis bounty مكنونَهُits hidden treasure
Say to the emir (may my Lord make his glory endure
And grant him the hidden treasure of His bounty):
إنِّيindeed I جنَيْتُI have done wrong ولمand have not يَزلْceased أهلُpeople of النُّهىwisdom
يَهبُونَthey forgive للخُدّامِfor the servants ماwhat يَجنونَهُthey commit it
I have done wrong, and men of wisdom have always
Forgiven servants the wrongs they commit.
ولقدand indeed جَمعْتُI have gathered مِنَof العُيوبِfaults فُنونَهاtheir various kinds
فاجمَعْso gather مِنَof العَفْوِpardon الكَريمِnoble فُنونَهُits various kinds
And I have indeed gathered faults of many kinds;
So gather noble pardon in its many forms.
مَنْwhoever كانَwas يرجوhopes for عَفْوَpardon مَنْone who هُوَhe فَوقَهُabove him
عَنfor ذَنبِهِhis sin فلْيَعْفُthen let him pardon عَمَّنْconcerning those who دونَهُbeneath him
Whoever hopes for pardon from one above him
For his sin should pardon those beneath him.
