أخٌ ليَ جَرَّبْتُه مَرَّةً

A brother of mine I tested once;

so testing him at length filled me with regret.

فهل كان يُربِحُ تجريبُه

وفُلْكُ التكبُّرِ تجري بهِ

وفُلْكُ التكبُّرِ تجري بهِ

Could testing him have yielded any profit,

while the ship of arrogance sailed with him aboard?
