Tell whoever seeks loftiness and high rank: Stop!

Love indeed has a proof and a sign.

How many a man we have seen wearing armor,

Who returned from his journey not safe and sound.

They say: You are mighty and noble—

So why has the gazelle possessed the nobleman's heart?

I said: Leave me, and do not reproach me,

For none has ensnared a nobleman's heart like a gazelle.
