أتانيcame to me كتابُكَyour letter ياسيِّديO my master
أتاني كتابُكَ ياسيِّدي
وذُخريand my treasure الأعزُّthe most precious منfrom الفارِيَابِFaryab
وذُخري الأعزُّ من الفارِيَابِ
Your letter reached me, O my master,
Your letter came to me, my master
And my dearest treasure, from Faryab.
My most precious treasure over the Euphrates
وكانَand there were لأعشارfor the fragments of قلبيmy heart بهِthrough it
وكانَ لأعشار قلبي بهِ
وحقِّby the sanctity of ودادِكَyour affection ألفاtwo thousand رِيابِmendings; repairs
وحقِّ ودادِكَ ألفا رِيابِ
And through it, my heart's fragments received—
And it gladdened the tenths of my heart
By your affection—two thousand mendings.
By the right of your affection, a thousand tents
