عليكَ بالعَدلِ إنْ وُلِّيتَ مملكَةً

عليكَ بالعَدلِ إنْ وُلِّيتَ مملكَةً

واحذَر مِنَ الجَورِ فيها غايَةَ الحَذَرِ

واحذَر مِنَ الجَورِ فيها غايَةَ الحَذَرِ

Hold fast to justice if you are entrusted with a realm,

Hold fast to justice if you are entrusted with a kingdom,

and beware injustice within it with the utmost caution.

And beware of injustice within it with the utmost caution.

فالعدلُ يُبقيهِ أنَّى احتَلَّ من بَلَدٍ

فالعدلُ يُبقيهِ أنَّى احتَلَّ من بَلَدٍ

والجَورُ يَفنيهِ في بَدْوٍ وفي حَضَرِ

والجَورُ يَفنيهِ في بَدْوٍ وفي حَضَرِ

For justice preserves the ruler, whatever land he settles in,

For justice preserves it, in whatever land it is established,

while injustice destroys him, whether in nomadic or settled life.

And injustice destroys it, in nomadic lands and in settled lands.
