بأبيwith my father as ransom مَنْthe one who أدارَpassed round مِنfrom عَيْنَيْهِhis two eyes
بأبي مَنْ أدارَ مِن عَيْنَيْهِ
مِثلَthe like of ماwhat قدْalready أدارَهُhe passed it round بيَديْهِwith his two hands
مِثلَ ما قدْ أدارَهُ بيَديْهِ
My father be his ransom—he who passed round from his eyes
May my father be ransom for him who passed round from his eyes
the like of what he had passed round with his hands.
the like of what he has already passed round with his hands.

قَمرٌ يقمُرُ العُقولَ بسِحْرٍ
مالَهُit has no مركزٌseat سِوىexcept عَينَيْهِhis two eyes
مالَهُ مركزٌ سِوى عَينَيْهِ
A moon who vanquishes minds with a magic
A moon who steals minds with magic
that has no seat anywhere but in his two eyes.
that has no seat except his eyes.

He, of all people, has least need of me; yet
He is the least in need of me among all people, and yet
I, of all people, have greatest need of him.
I am among those most in need of him.
