بأبي غَزالٌ نام عن وَصبَي بهِ
ومُراقِand the shedding of دمعيmy tears بالنَّوىthrough separation وصَبِيبِهِand their streaming
ومُراقِ دمعي بالنَّوى وصَبِيبِهِ
May my father be ransom for a gazelle who slept, heedless of my anguish for him,
By the life of a deer that slept on aromatic plants
and of my tears shed in separation and their streaming.
And the flowing of my tears remembering the beloved's abode
ياoh ليتَهُwould that he يَرْثيtakes pity علىon وَلَهيmy lovesick yearning بهِfor him
يا ليتَهُ يَرْثي على وَلَهي بهِ
لغرامِfor the torment of قلبيmy heart فيin الهَوىlove ولَهيبِهِand its blaze
لغرامِ قلبي في الهَوى ولَهيبِهِ
Ah, would that he took pity on my yearning for him,
If only he would lament over my passion for him
on my heart's torment in love and its blaze.
For the love in my heart, its fervor and its flame
