Leave the desolate ruins to whoever wept over them.

And rise, then choose for us a dwelling other than these.

And leave the cup empty, holding only air,

For we do not stoop to craving it.

Have you not seen that we strive to rise

To eminence, at its highest summits,

And that we do not think of death

When [word unclear in the source] honor and standing?

And when we face a war,

    Grim-faced, with its morning near,

We make the Mashrafi sword weep fresh blood,

And the Mashrafi swords' laughter lies in their weeping.

We have planted saplings in our endeavors,

Whose harvest is sweet through the nights.

And we have raised edifices to noble attainments,

Whose structural strength endures through time.
