وعَقِّبْهُ مُرتاحاً بكأسِ شَرابِ
When the darkness lifts, have kebab,
When dusk falls heavy upon you
and, at ease, follow it with a cup of wine.
And you follow it relaxed with a cup of drink
ولمand did not يفتَحopen الأقوامُthe peoples باباًa door إلىto المُنىdesires
ولم يفتَح الأقوامُ باباً إلى المُنى
كَبابِlike the door of شَرابٍwine أوor كبابِlike the door of كبابِkebab
كَبابِ شَرابٍ أو كبابِ كبابِ
And people have opened no door to their desires
People have not opened a door to hopes
like the door to wine or the door to kebab.
Except a drink of wine or cups of wine

وغُصتَ على الكَلِمِ الطَّيِّبِ
You excelled in the marvels of the sciences,
You have advanced in miracles of knowledge
and you dived for wholesome words.
And excelled in good words

You spread words after death;
You spread after death from speech
so, my God, preserve them through me from being folded away.
So, my God, protect it from any blemish
