سقى الله امرأً إن كفَّ دارَتْ

سقى الله امرأً إن كفَّ دارَتْ

صُروفُ زمانِنا مِمّا يَليهِ

صُروفُ زمانِنا مِمّا يَليهِ

May God send rain upon a man: if he wards them off, away turn

May God water a man if the cycles

The vicissitudes of our time from what is in his care.

Of our time cease from what follows

فلم أرَ مِثلَهُ حُرّاً تولَّى

فلم أرَ مِثلَهُ حُرّاً تولَّى

فولَّى ما يَليهِ ما يَليهِ

فولَّى ما يَليهِ ما يَليهِ

For I have seen no noble man like him who assumed charge,

For I have not seen the like of him, a freeman who assumed

Then entrusted what lay nearest him with what was in his care.

So he assumed what follows, what follows
