إذا خُذِلَ المَرءُ مِن نَفسِهِ

إذا خُذِلَ المَرءُ مِن نَفسِهِ

فليسَ لَهُ مِن سِواهُ نَصيرُ

فليسَ لَهُ مِن سِواهُ نَصيرُ

If a man is let down by his own self,

When a man is forsaken by himself

then he has no helper in anyone else.

He has no one else to aid him

وشَرُّ سِلاحٍ يُحامي بهِ

وشَرُّ سِلاحٍ يُحامي بهِ

لِسانٌ طويلٌ وباعٌ قَصيرُ

لِسانٌ طويلٌ وباعٌ قَصيرُ

And the worst weapon with which he defends himself

And the worst weapon a man may take up

is a long tongue and a short reach.

Is a loose tongue and a faint heart
