فَحَكِّمْ غِنى أخلاقِكَ الغُرِّ في فَقري
I have wronged myself and lowered my standing.
I did wrong unto myself and was at ease with my fate
So let the richness of your noble character judge my poverty.
So let the riches of your noble character rule my poverty

For reason is but a ring; you are its gem.
For the mind is but a ring whose gemstone you are
And your pardon is the gem’s engraving; so seal my excuse with it.
And your pardon the engraving - so stamp my excuse with it
