O you whom I see doubting my affection,

No fair-minded man doubts what he loves.

If you have been told something bad about me,

Then the blame for it lies with the slanderous liar.

Or if they led you to think my pledge was cut short,

For a noble man is not content with a pledge cut short.

My nature is like Jupiter's: it contains no

Evil—so is there a buyer for Jupiter?
