Among friends, I love every well-mannered man,

graceful in character, sweet in scent and fragrance.

When you come to him, you glimpse, from the sun of his soul,

upon his face a light called cheerfulness.

You see his generosity advance hope through his bounty,

and replace its ten-day watering with daily drinking.

Yet what I have counted among his qualities—

by the sanctity of the ten nights—has not amounted to a tenth.
