Welcome to the fig, lovely to behold,
Roses of beauty bright
Welcome to a fig of comely sight,
Fashioned from musk and ambergris,
Woven with musk and ambergris
Fashioned from musk and ambergris,

ألهى عن المنظر بالمخبر
With an embroidered cloak; when you taste it,
When tasted, rapture-sweet
Draped in an embroidered cloak—yet when you taste it,
Its inner worth makes you forget its appearance,
The flavour surpasses the sight
Its flavor makes you forget its form,

حشاه بالسمسم والسكر
As though the Creator—glory be to Him—
As though the Creator most high
As though the Creator, in His glory,
Had filled it with sesame and sugar.
Had filled it with sugar and sesame
Had stuffed it with sesame and sugar.
