وفيه للعاشق اعتذار
The cheek-down appeared upon his face,
The bashfulness shows on his face
The downy hair appeared upon his face,
And in it lies an excuse for the lover.
And in it the lover finds excuse
And within it lies the lover's excuse.

And a face turned white, and a cheek turned red,
His face is white and his cheek is red
A face of white, a cheek of red,
And the cheek-down between them turned green—thus,
While the bashfulness between them is green
And the verdant fuzz growing between them thus.

So whoever saw him saw gardens
Whoever sees him sees gardens
So whoever sees him beholds a garden
Of myrtle, roses, and narcissus.
Of jasmine, roses, and spring
Of myrtle, roses, and chamomile.
