وَمَاand no كَيِّسٌa shrewd man فيamong النَّاسِpeople يُحْمَدُis praised رَأْيُهُhis judgment
فَيُوجَدُand is found إِلاَّexcept وَهْوَwhile he is فيin الحُبِّlove أَحْمَقُfoolish
And no shrewd man among people, whose judgment is praised,
No wise man among people is praised for his reason,
Is found without being a fool in love.
Except when infatuated, he proves to be a fool.
وَماand there is no مِنْany فَتىًyoung man مَاnot ذاقَtasted بُؤْسَthe hardship of مَعيشَةٍliving
مِنَfrom الدَّهْرِtime إِلاَّexcept ذَاقَهاhe tasted it حِينَwhen يَعْشِقُhe falls in love
And no young man who has never tasted the hardship of living
No young man who hasn't tasted the woes of living,
Through the years fails to taste it when he falls in love.
Ever suffers as when enslaved by love's pull.
